BRUCE DOW

In 2000 Bruce made his Broadway debut in John Caird and
Paul Gordon's musical adaptation of "Jane Eyre". The
principal role of Robert was especially written for him
by the show's creators. "Jane Eyre" was nominated for
five Tony awards, including Best Book, Best Score and
Best Musical. In 2001 he joined Susan Stroman's Broadway
Revival cast of "The Music Man" as Jacey Squires, top
tenor of the Hawkeye-Four. The multi-Tony nominated
production starred Rebecca Luker and fellow Stratford
Festival of Canada alum, Eric McCormack. Bruce's most
recent New York appearance was a benefit performance
for the Lincoln Center Theatre of "Anything Goes" with
Patti Lupone and Howard McGillan. Bruce has appeared
accross Canada and the Untited States as a member of
the Original Canadian and National Tour Companies of
"Forever Plaid", "Les Miserables", "Napoleon", and
Disney's "Beauty and the Beast". In his four seasons
at Stratford he played Nanki-Poo in "The Mikado",
Bunthorne in "Patience" (directed by Brian Hill),
and Sancho in "Man of La Mancha" (directed by Susan
H. Schulman). He also appeared in the now legendary
production of "Fiddler on the Roof" (also directed by
Susan H. Schulman) which marked Brent Carver's first
turn as Tevye. As a composer and lyricist his original
musicals "Hard Hats" and "Wilde Tales" have been
workshopped and produced regionally. Most recently
Bruce received a Dora nomination (Best Featured Actor)
for his performance as Pirelli in Sondheim's "Sweeney
Todd" for director/playwright Morris Panych (CanStage,
Toronto). Bruce is in the process of compiling his first
album, "Simple".
